Aunty Lynda with Encore in the girlies new big bed -- while Louise & the rest of the gang watches on.
I thought I would share this little video clip of Encore showing off how far she has come. I just put this clip together for “Team Encore” the amazing group of health professionals that have been helping Encore since she first starting seizing last week. Team Encore includes; Dr. Kelly Ciggaar, Dr. Alix Soltan, Dr. Leslie Woodcock, Dr. Andrea Finnen, Dr. Porter and several other key supporters (like Lynda Orton-Hill, Tammy Frank and Louise Lamer). I really did not intend on showing the world this video (as evident with me being in my PJs and not having combed my hair yet:)) . . . but we have had so many now that are a part of global “Team Encore” I thought I would share it with everyone.
Just five days ago Encore was admitted to the neurology department of the Oakville-Mississauga Emergency Clinic and labeled “unresponsive.” Today Encore continues to impress us all the rather large strides she is taking on her road to recovery. We still have much to conquer but are thrilled with what we have already accomplished.
Thank you to everyone for all of your support and healing prayers. Have an amazing holiday everyone, I know my Christmas wish has come true!
Today I am so very grateful for all of the members of “Team Encore” who saved her life and for each and every healing prayer that has been sent Encore’s way by this amazing supportive community.
I’m so happy your girl is doing so much better in such a short time. I hope she continues to improve and do keep us posted with her progress. Still sending good wishes for her complete recovery.
Encore has come such a long way in a very short time Susan!
This reminds me so much of our little Xoom learning to walk all over again after being paralyzed.
You are doing a super job (well of course :).
We used all different things on Xoom’s feet to wake them up (brushes – soft and hart bristle, etc.) Your toothbrush idea is brilliant!
Mel & I are sending you much love and positive thoughts.
Thank you for the update, good to see Encore’s recovery to date. Nice to see the love & commitment you two have for each other. Prayers for continued good progress!
Yippee!! You inspire us all, Encore!
Thank you again for the further update on Encore’s road to recovery. Just simply amazing. Keep you in my prayers.
This is wonderful progress. It shows love and dedication to your amazing Encore. Love ‘n’ Hugs to you all.
Wonderful progress. Certainly helped that she was so strong when this happened. You can tell she is loving “me and Mum” time.
WOW! That is AMAZING progess in such a short period of time! You two are very lucky to have each other:)
Brought tears to my eyes – congrats and fingers and paws crossed here for a quick and speedy recovery….
What a wonderful Christmas gift for you. Encore and you are amazing and I am so glad things are getting better for her. Thank you for sharing this. It puts things in perspective and brings to mind what is really important in life. Love and Hugs, Pat and the KY Westies
Great to see her doing so well already. I hope the road continues just as well. Wishing all of you the best on your continuing journey, more positive thoughts coming your way from Germany.
Amazing progress Encore, you are very lucky to have your mom and all of the people she has to help you get better. Thinking of you and sending lots more positive, healing thoughts from England.
Just amazing Susan, so thrilled for you. Loving the jimjams too – super classy as!
I was amazed to see the progress Encore has made. No doubt all the love surrounding her has helped enormously.
So happy for all of you.
Encore is making an amazing recovery. Do you know what the cause of all this is? Was it the tick-borne illness that you spoke of earlier?
Have you tried a holistic veterinarian? You may want to try acupuncture, if you haven’t already. Herbal remedies, or essential oils may be very helpful, also.
It’s great to see Encore back home, and up and about again!
Thanks so much for sharing! So happy to see Encore walking and interacting with you. She looks awesome! That is definitely the best Christmas present you could ever receive. I wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas!
So happy Encore is up walking and keeps improving moe and more.
I love the use of the electirc tooh brush to stimulate the nerves in her feet – never would have thought of that. Also like the use of the peanut or ball (couldn’t tell which) in helping her (I use and sell canine conditioning equip and think they are wonderful for so many different things).
Just a question – do you have access to maybe do some hydro swim work with Encore?
@Helene, Encore did her first swim later in the afternoon after I shot this video. We have a pool here in our home for the dogs so my intention is to have Missy En swim ever other day (although right now it is more floating in a life jacket then actual swimming:)).
So proud of you Encore! Sending ‘cookies’, hugs and love from Australia. So happy to see your recovery improving with each update from your Mum. Keep going!
OMG I saw her on the ICP call tonite but what I didn’t realize until seeing this video she is walking!!! Thrilling just thrilling. Go Encore go. So happy for everyone and thanks for the toothbrush stimulation tip . I have a parapalgec GSD and part of her physical therapy is stimulating the feet but never heard about using the toothbrush! Neat . Continued healing thoughts but looks like she is well on her way. Ramp? What Ramp? LOL
OMG – that is so amazing she looks fantastic – keep up the good work Susan and Encore it is really paying off. Sending Christmas Wishes for Missy En, Susan, John and the rest of your pups.
Truly a blessing seeing her up and moving!! I was so busy watching missy En I didn’t even notice your hair lol! Continuing to send healing thoughts and a very merry Christmas.
Thank you for sharing. The recovery is wonderful–you go girly! Showing what you do to help Miss Encore is sure to help others, perhaps those who don’t even know what happened. A nice Pay-It-Forward/future gift to the Team and others.
I am so pleased to see how great Encore is doing. Hope she continues to improve daily. Some angles have been watching over you all.
Just wonderful!…. Keep it up, both of you!
What joy to watch you playing with her! Truly God’s hand is evident in her recovery… He brought the right people into her life at the right time and worked through them his Christmas miracle! A true reminder to ‘keep the faith’. Thanks for sharing this with all of us.
🙂 No words are needed.
Holy Cow!! Happy tears watching this video. Thank you so much for sharing. Encore and you and John have been so much in our thoughts. Merry Christmas to you and the Team of people who have brought Encore to this point.
Go team! We’ve been rooting for the whole team from the start, and we’ll just keep right on doing that. Thank you so much for sharing.
I love that even while you’re focused on meeting Encore’s needs, you still verbalize the point of each step so the rest of us can learn as we cheer you onward 🙂
I ve barely had computer access for a few days and finally checked in today to read what an awful, awful nightmare you and Encore have had.
To be hit by something like this in your 8yr old must ve been so unexpected and so hard.
I am so happy to now read this blog and see your amazing video and share the joy of how brilliantly Missy En is now doing, she s so obviously happy an driven and having had the pleasure of meeting your lovely girls in Devon I see the same elegance and fire already back with her that I saw then, such a sweetheart, I wish you both a now smooth road back to the physical health she needs to do what she loves, play with you and her canine siblings again.
You ve given so much to our doggy world I hope you ll accept love and prayers to you both and to your extended doggy and human family in return.
Video as much as you can Susan – it be so good to have her case written up to save other dogs like her. I will definiently think more differently when I see my next GME case
Hugs to you all
xx
Susan thank you so much for sharing. This is a gem of a video. I hope you continue to share Encore’s recovery as I am sure people would love to see the types of games you will be using for physical therapy to help Encore with her recovery. I just love watching you play with your dogs. Happy Holidays to everyone at Say Yes.
Susan so glad to see her feeling better, any idea what the problem was?
Noticed the ramp on the steps… if you want her to use the ramp, you may have to block her to it. I had trouble transiting my old girl (15 yrs old) to the ramp, because she insisted on doing it the old way (down the steps), but after blocking her path down the steps and directing her down the ramp, she started taking it always. Just a thought! You’re obviously light years ahead with Encore anyway. So glad to see her progress.
That does my heart good …. there really is someone up there looking out for us and our dogs!
Wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing, so happy for you all and especially for Encore 🙂 What a great team.
If anyone has any doubts about body awareness exercises, trick training, relationship building games etc, this is the perfect clip to show them – makes things so much easier and less stressful for the dog (and the humans) when on the road to back to wellness.
that was awesome I have happy tears ! Way to go team Encore !
You girls are most definitely in ‘Do-Land’….it can only be onwards and upwards from now on Encore, go girl go.
Watching that video brings tears of joy to my eyes, Susan. Can’t believe my eyes at her renewed abilities! Good work, Susan and Encore. Our agility club has been pulling for ‘ya.
Love the progress! Thank You Lord!
She seems to have her puppy wits about her too and knows what is going on, and what miraculous progress physically!
I love how you said that you have your christmas present now. Wonderful! You have blessed my heart as well. I was agonizing with you! It brought back so many memories with my Cody and what he went through and also the blessing of watching him recover! My heart overflows with joy for you and for the progress the Lord has brought about. I will continue to pray the Lord will bring her back to health and be better than ever!
Merry Christmas Susan!
love sharon and her pups, Bindi, Cody, and Terra
With great happiness I write this note. SO glad to see such wonderful steps to recovery….watching you play/running outside brought tears to my eyes. What would we do without our dear dogs? Here’s to bigger, better, and stronger soon.
Merry Christmas to ALL of you!
Meg :)) xx
So wonderful to see this! My lab is currently recovering from spine surgery to remove a cyst pressing on his spinal cord. He doesn’t think he needs the ramp either lol. These situations really stress the importance of keeping our dogs stong, lean and fit. Our neuro surgeon was very impressed with Riley’s physical condition and quick recovery post-surgery. It (plus lots of love) makes all the difference in recovery as you are seeing with Encore.
heartwarming to watch her
Awesome, awesome, awesome – she is looking fantastic. What a rapid improvement in only a few days! A huge Merry Christmas to all those involved in her recovery – what a fantastic group of supporters Encore and you have.
So glad to see the video, Susan! As Laurie said, truly a blessing. Continuing to send healing energy to you and Encore and the Team.
Thank you for sharing! What a blessing! Merry Christmas!
Great work Team Encore! Miss Encore has incredible drive!!! What an amazing four pawed friend!

OOH! so impress! she’s able to walk! what a good news! Thank you for sharing Susan. Encore is in good hand “s”
Like the drunken’ girlie 🙂
Happy, Happy Christmas to you, Encore and all the Miss Encore Team. It’s wonderful to see how excited Encore is to do some part of her job. Today nose touches, tomorrow ……….who knows!
