Wrapping up some lose ends here. First of all thanks to everyone that contributed to the Shaping Challenge. I hope you all had fun and learned lots. I did promise I would reinforce one of you so the winner is . . . Chelsea and Zoe. I choose the winner very scientifically. I counted up the number of people that submitted a reply and asked John to pick a number:). So Chelsea send us your snail mail address and we will send you out a hard cover copy of Shaping Success. There were some awesome video clips sent in thanks to everyone. Don’t be shy if you have some that you haven’t yet sent. It is fun and educational for all!
For those that sent in videos let me suggest you try and do some shaping without a clicker. A clicker is a great tool, I do use it but I use it strategically. It is very precise and if you are not careful you will create confusion in your dog.
Encore has not limped since we got back home. She has been ripping in the snow with Feature and I have not curbed their activity. No sign of lameness. She had more blood drawn yesterday and we started her on Doxy for Lyme disease yesterday. So everyone keep those positive thoughts coming!
I have had some technical difficulties with my newsletter but I should have another one out to all all of you this week. Lots of new stuff to roll out this week so stay posted!
Today I am grateful for a chance to get things done at home. I have a workshop this weekend here and then come Sunday I am off again until the end of the month!
To Finland! I have googled like mad and can’t find out where and when you are coming here. A secret gathering?-) I wanna participate 🙂
– Riikka, from Finland
So happy to read that Encore is better. We worry so when there is anything wrong.
so pleased to hear that Encore is doing so well.
Here’s hoping Encore’s troubles are behind her!
It must be interesting teaching in countries where English isn’t the native language?
Wow! Thanks! It must be my luck day 🙂
It was really cool seeing everyone’s videos. I love watching the process way more than the final trick.
Susan, I will email the address off of your website rather than post my address here, but thanks again!
Dejavu…I was just thinking “I haven’t seen a newsletter for some time!”
Perhaps it will announce some new training workshops to come!?!?
I can’t believe you’re leaving us again!!!!!!! Hopefully this time next year you’ll be a little more tied to home 😉
Off again until the end of the month? That won’t do, you’ll totally get bored or feel hollow and empty not being able to use your natural teaching abilities, hmmm don’t worry Phoenix and I have lots of things to work on, we can keep you busy lol
Hmm Andrea, perhaps I should define “off.” It was used not in the context of down time but as in leaving. I am off to Orlando where I am crewing at a Tony Robbins workshop, I catch a flight the night it ends to teach in Italy for a week, then I return home for 3 days to re-pack and head to Finland to teach for 3 days. Not really “off” and yes my teaching skills will be put to use:).
One of the biggest things I have learned from you is when to put the clicker away in shaping! It has helped me tremendously with my young dog, and my students’ dogs, to decide when to use the clicker and when not to. I am really grateful for that insight, since the clicker can be really reinforcing for the humans and sometimes not the best tool for the task at hand. My dogs are grateful too!
Let’s hope Ms. Encore was just home sick, and heard about all those competitors in Canada for the Olympics and wanted to see what all the fuss was about, especially since they don’t have agility in the Olympics!
I am crossing fingers and sending it’s of positive energy to you both, that all is well and no more soreness presents itself.
