Okay so due to scheduling difficulties (teaching 13 out of the last 15 days) I am a day late getting out this blog post and the greeting. But I think it is good that I am late. Green Day shouldn’t be just a day, a week or a month it should be a lifestyle. We are fortunate in Canada in that being green is forced upon us. One bag of trash per household is all you are allowed to put to the curb on Garbage Day each week here in Alberton . . . as many re-cyclying or composting containers as you like, but only one bag of trash that must go to a landfill.
Not that I am trying to be preachy or anything but it is amazing the difference it makes not just to the planet but to the way you vibrate personally. Here a challenge for you all going to a trial this weekend. Please report back to the blog next week if you took me up on the challenge. Email ahead and ask the organizers if they plan on re-cycling at the trial. If they aren’t why don’t you? Bring along a supply of recycling containers or bags and plan on dropping off all you collect at a local depot. If your haul is too big ask a few people if they wouldn’t mind giving you a hand and just take 2 bags each. Before you know job done!
Have a great weekend everyone. Thanks to Cathi for sending over this awesome video!
Today I am grateful for Tracy Sklenar who jumped in a taught for Laura Derrett when the Derrett’s couldn’t get to their seminar this week (due to the uncooperative volcano).
Not only a great green message, but lots of ideas for shaping as well!!!!!

I have the ultimate in re-cycling experience:
Two years ago, at the agility trial our dog club hosted, I bought a raffle ticket and was pleased to win a mini coffee-maker ! At home, looking at it, I suddenly realised that I myself had contributed this item the year before, out of my stash of never-used “to give away ” stuff. Needless to say, last year I donated it again — and who knows, it may still be making the rounds of agility trials, fund-raising in its own small way…
Coming from an above average sized family, similar to you Susan, all I can say is that we would have been trash-heap outlaws with a one bag of trash per household law. Is there also a weekly bowel movement limit, and if so how do they measure it? Well, I suppose that would fall under recycling….lmao
Wow, thanks Jodi, hopefully it wasn’t too entertaining 🙂 And thanks for the great food – I ate like a pig and still lost a pound. Rock on!
Tracy Sklenar gave 500% of herself while teaching as she stepped in for Laura Derrett (who is awesome in her own way). I can’t say enough about her abilities as an entertainer and an instructor. Thanks for providing such an enriching learning experience.
My trials always have recycling containers out — right beside the garbage cans — and yet every time I pick up the trash I see numerous recyclables in the cans. Attempts to back off on the bottled water I supply (in the hope that folks will choose instead the delicious pure stuff from my 400′ well) have not been met favourably, and yet after every trial I find numerous mostly full bottles that have been opened but barely touched. And on and on. Hmm…you seem to have pushed my rant button! Oh well. I guess I should take heart from the fact that last year we finally managed to change things so that trial results could be submitted electronically instead of requiring a ream of paper. Every little bit, and all.

Right on, Susan Garrett. Because I have no manners, I am going to chime in here with an addition. I am an actual Garbage Lady at agility trials. I am the glamorous, rubber gloved lady that collects the garbage and recycling after you go to your motels and RV’s if you come to trials in my neck of the woods. Before it even comes down to the recycling, think about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.
Reduce the waster you need to get rid of (tupperware, anyone?)
Re-use stuff (I carry off sacks of bazillions of plastic water bottles. Water, people! You can bring water! Some trials even offer big jugs of water for you to fill up your bottles from! OMG, the plastic.)
Then recycle.
Amen sista!
